Check to make sure that this horse has a good disposition, is well broke and is very sound. Top show horses may be out of your league, but a good show horse may be great to get you started. If you are looking for a good trail horse, then looks are not as important.

The first step is to decide what horse breed you want. You may choose from show horses for halter or performance, trail horses, endurance horses, jumper, or just a back yard horses for your kids.
